Big Lots to Close All Stores, Hosting “Going Out of Business” Sales

Sad news, Big Lots shoppers! Big Lots has announced plans to close all of its stores and begin “going out of business” sales. The company had previously sought to sell its assets to another company, but that deal is no longer expected to go through. Although Big Lots continues to explore other options, it is now preparing to shut down all locations.

With over 900 stores across the U.S., Big Lots is known for selling discounted furniture, home goods, and more. Despite efforts to find a buyer, the company filed for bankruptcy protection in September and has already begun closing some stores.

This move is part of a larger trend of increasing store closures across U.S. retailers, with over 7,100 closures announced in 2024 alone.
