Where to Find Senior Discounts

If you or someone you know is over the age of 50 – it’s time to start asking about senior discounts! Not only will many retailers and restaurants offer you lower prices, you may also score some extra perks. Many companies consider 50 to be the minimum age for discounts, while others go with the Medicare age of 65. It’s definitely worth asking!

If you’re 50+, be sure you’re signed up for AARP and Association of Mature American Citizens (AMAC) to start receiving discounts, special offers, added perks, useful information, and much more.

What can you really get with AARP?

  • Restaurants: 10% off your bill at hundreds of restaurants (Denny’s even offers 15% off your bill)
  • Events: Cheaper tickets at Ticketmaster
  • Movies: $3 off popcorn & soda at Regal Cinemas
  • Cruises: Up to $300 off cruises for 2, or $100 credits
  • Car Rentals: Avis and Budget give up to 30% off,
  • Hotels: Save 5-15% off your stay at Best Western, Wyndham, and more!
  • Pharmacy: Kroger Pharmacy, Target Optical, EyeMed, Walgreens Pharmacy, Walmart Pharmacy, Lenscrafters and many others offer awesome discounts for seniors with AARP

  • JOANN: 20% off purchase for 55+
  • Kohl’s: 15% off for 60+ on Wednesdays
  • Ross Dress for Less: 10% off for 55+ on Tuesdays
  • Michael’s: 10% off purchase for 55+ everyday
  • Rite Aid: Earn 5x points the first Wednesday of every month + more
  • Walgreens: 20% off for AARP or 55+ – check stores for dates
  • Fred Meyer: 10% off select items 55+ on first Tuesday of the month
  • Harris Teeter: 5% off purchase for 60+ every Thursday
  • Movie Theaters: Cinemark offers discount days for 62+, Regal Cinemas has lower prices for 60+, and Showcase Cinemas gives discount admission & popcorn + soda for $4.50 for 60+ every Wednesday
  • National Parks: $20 annual or $80 lifetime pass for over 2,000 recreation sites for 62+
  • SilverSneakers: Over 17,000 locations offer FREE fitness and healthy living classes for 65+ on Medicare or other plans
  • Hertz Car Rentals: Up to 20% off for 50+
  • Amtrak: 10% off most rail fares for 65+
  • Airlines: United Airlines and Delta both offer discounts – but you’ll need to contact for age minimum & discount specifics

Be sure to ask your local restaurants, businesses, zoos, museums, historical attractions, parks, bowling alleys and other fun places for senior discounts. You never know if a cheaper rate is waiting for you – you may need to JUST ASK!
