2020 Tax-Free Weekends – When to Shop

It’s that time of year again! Back to school might be up in the air and confusing right now, but one thing we can depend on – Sales Tax Holidays! That’s the wonderful time of year when select states offer a weekend (or longer) where you don’t have to pay sales tax on things like school supplies, computers, clothing and more. If you’re not ready to venture outside yet, don’t worry – some online retailers like Amazon and Walmart honor tax-free shopping during those dates!

Alabama: July 17 – 19

  • Clothing (up to $100)
  • Computers (up to $750)
  • School supplies (up to $50)
  • Books (up to $30)

Arkansas: August 1 – 2

  • Clothing (up to $100)
  • School supplies (no limit)
  • Clothing accessories (up to $50)

Connecticut: August 16 – 22

  • Clothing & Shoes (up to $100)

Florida: August 7 – 11

  • Clothing (up to $60)
  • Backpacks (up to $60)
  • School supplies (up to $15)
  • Computers (up to $1,000)

Iowa: August 7 – 8

  • Clothing & Shoes (up to $100)

Massachusetts: Not yet announced (2019 was August 17-18) 

  • Items of tangible personal property (up to $2,500)

Maryland: Not yet announced (2019 was August 11-17)

  • Clothing & Shoes (up to $100)
  • Backpacks (up to $40)

Mississippi: July 31 – August 2
