SHARK BITES – Back to School Tax Free Weekend
It’s that time of the summer season, where school items are being put out on display for the upcoming 2015-2016 school year.
According to the National Retail Federation’s latest predictions, families will spend $98 on average this year. So, I hope that you find significant savings, while you shop. Don’t forget to check your child(rens) local school website, to find their school supply needs and any uniform changes. Print out at least 2 lists, so you have one for home and one in your car.
There are many great deals and sales from pretty much any department store. Finding a deal is always great, but not having to pay tax on school items, clothing, computers, footwear, instructional materials just to name a few, is a definite added bonus! The “bottom line” can add up quickly— especially, if you have a household of 2 or more kids. This is a great time… a smart time… to utilize your coupons, points, credits etc., that will get you to the lowest amount possible. If you have a set budget and can save significantly or possible double your items… I say, go for it!
A few tips to make sure you don’t over spend or buy items you may still have from the last school season is to:
- Utilize the Tax Free Weekend promotion 😉
- Check you supplies/children’s closets: Round up all the supplies remaining from last year’s school term.
- Set budget/limit: Kids like to look cool with clothes and gadgets, but if it’s not in your budget… it’s just not in your budget!
- Check social media sites to find your favorite stores like Target and Wal-Mart.
- Make the local dollar stores your best friend:
- Use cash back sites like Ebates: Make money buying things you NEED!
- Check Sales flyers for coupons and additional discounts.
- Use manufacturer coupons: KNOW STORE POLICIES on COUPONS
- Use cash instead of credit cards: Why pay extra in interest?
- Know if there is a minimum/maximum on quantities/supplies per visit
- Sign up for text alerts from your favorite stores.
- Keep checking FreebieShark.com for up to date deals and promotions!
