Target Couponing Tips: How to Get the Most Bang for Your Bucks!

Target LogoSHARK BITES – Target Couponing Tips: How to Get the Most Bang for Your Bucks!

Let’s face it. We all like to save money. If by chance you are that rare exception—you are certainly missing out! It’s so much fun to save money!

For instance, Target is one of my favorite stores to find deals at— in store or online. They have some of the best deals at any given time! As a Target shopper, you are bound to “catch” a swimmingly” great deal, whether through their ads or online. I especially love it when they put gift card deals with items we most definitely need, like food, toilet paper and paper towels. Usually, their deals consist of buying 2 or more specific products, which will generate a $5, $10, or more gift card immediately at the register checkout. What’s even better is, if you have separate transactions, you can “roll” your gift card into your 2nd, 3rd, etc. transactions. When doing so, you pay less out of pocket. I have done transactions like that many a time. Especially, on household items like the Glade candles and air fresheners. Talk about a “sweet smelling deal”! What’s even better is when Target offers a $ off of a $ amount. A great example is from their last week’s sales ad. They offered $5.00 off of $20.00 in meats. Not only did I do the deal, but they offered the savings via their store ad and via their mobile texts. So, if you forget your sales paper, you have another choice, by pulling the coupon up on your phone. (SN: customer service can give you a sales paper, if you forget yours). You can text “offers” to 827438, for mobile offers. However, sometimes they have ‘specific’ code words to text to that number, for “specific’ items in a category, like baby clothes and baby food. Keep your eye out here on FreebieShark.com, as I post those key words, once verified.

So, for my meat deal last week, I chose some products that I needed, and paired them up with my manufacturer coupons. After I got my products, and before I checked out, I looked up the brands/item names, via their Target Cartwheel program. I then added what I needed to my Cartwheel account. Those items saved to my account were scanned from my phone for an additional 5% off at the end of my transaction, and after my Target $5.00 off $20.00 ad coupon, and manufacturer coupons were scanned. (SN: Always have your Target coupon scanned first!) I went from a $46 transaction, reduced down to a $33.18 total. That included tax and all three saving options. I really love catching deals that incorporate all three!

I’ll let you in on a little secret. If you hold on to all your “free food item manufacturer coupons”, and wait for a Target deal like their $10 off when you spend $40 or more on grocery items, your coupons can eat up a lot of that $40, if not more—depending on what you have accrued. If your coupons total $40 or over, then that “$10.00” Target offers, can be applied to foods like ground beef, which usually isn’t attached to a manufacturer coupon. Please know though, Target does have 20% off ground meat sales. If we’re lucky, they sometimes have a Cartwheel offer of 5%-10%, which will help you save even more! Translation: Score! Keep in mind, if you ever have a transaction that leaves you in the negative (meaning Target owes you money), they actually WILL NOT pay you cash. You will either have to find an item or items, to bring you up to a $0.00 balance, or slightly over that. When I get into a situation like this (sometimes I’m at a -$2.00 or so, I just grab a cold drink and a candy bar near the checkout. That seems to do the trick. I end up giving Target change, and I leave their store a happy savvy Sharky coupon winner!! Whoo Hoo!!

So, the next time you’re heading to Target… come prepared to shop and W-I-N!

P.S. Leave a comment about your great savvy Target shopping deals.
