Dealing with Coupon Problems at the Register
Every once in a while, you might come across a new cashier that won’t accept your coupons. It’s a frustrating problem, and although you know that you are correct, the cashier still may not accept your coupons. You can deal with this issue in a variety of ways, but here are the most effective ways, in my opinion:
- Know each stores coupon policy. Read them over and over again. This way, you’ll know when a coupon should be accepted, and when it shouldn’t. If you have a problem at the register with a coupon not being accepted, politely go over the coupon policy with the cashier and kindly ask for clarification as to why the coupon is not being accepted.
- Print out the coupon policies and take them to the stores with you. Stop by our “Learning how to Coupon” section to view and print out several store coupon policies. If needed, pull out the coupon policy and politely hand it to the cashier. Most of the time, the cashier will correct their mistakes, if they were wrong in the first place. When having the policy on hand, it’s more likely for things to go smoothly. The policy will do the talking for you most of the time.
- Finally, if all else fails, ask to speak with the manager for further clarification. If you still are having issues, it never hurts to call corporate offices to get an official answer and to share your experience with the store and employees.
